Celebrating Community and Tradition: The 2025 Treasure Coast Ving Tsun Christmas Dinner

There is an old proverb in the martial arts world: “Kung Fu lives in the family.” This past holiday season, the spirit of that family was on full display as students from our Vero Beach, Palm City, Jupiter, and Port St. Lucie locations traveled from across the Treasure Coast to gather at our North America headquarters. This wasn't just a holiday meal; it was a celebration of Kung Fu Life—the practice of taking the discipline, focus, and heart we cultivate on the mats and applying it to how we treat one another and our community.

It was an evening filled with laughter, incredible food, and deep appreciation for the bonds we built throughout 2025.

A Night at Golden Chopsticks

We gathered at Golden Chopsticks Chinese Restaurant in Port St. Lucie, a local favorite that provided the perfect backdrop for our celebration. As plates of traditional fare circled the tables, it was a reminder that while our training happens on the mats, our brotherhood is strengthened over a shared meal.

A Special Thank You to Albert Lund

Events like these don’t just happen—they require leadership and dedication. We want to extend a massive "Thank You" to our dedicated student, Albert Lund.

Albert went above and beyond to organize the entire evening, managing the logistics and ensuring every detail was handled so the rest of the school could simply enjoy the festivities. His commitment to the school and his fellow students is a true testament to the character we strive to build in Ving Tsun. Albert, your hard work made this night possible!

A Gift for Sifu: Setting Sail for the Bahamas

The highlight of the evening’s presentations was a surprise that left the room buzzing. Led by Albert Lund’s coordination, the students came together to show their gratitude for Sifu’s tireless teaching and guidance throughout 2025.

Through the collective contributions of the class, Albert presented Sifu with a 4-day cruise to the Bahamas! It was a powerful moment of Gung Fu (hard work) and Ho Yeung (respect), showing Sifu just how much his mentorship means to each and every one of us. Enjoy the sun and the sea, Sifu—you’ve earned it!

The Spirit of the Lion

No Kung Fu celebration is complete without the energy of the Lion. Our students took to the floor to perform a traditional Lion Dance, bringing blessings of luck, prosperity, and strength to the school for the coming year. The rhythmic beat of the drum and the powerful movements of the lion served as a reminder of the deep cultural roots that anchor our Ving Tsun practice.

Join Our Family for 2026

As we look back on a wonderful night, we are reminded that Moy Yee Hop Ving Tsun is more than just a place to learn self-defense—it’s a community where students support one another and grow together. Whether you are looking to improve your fitness, learn a practical martial art, or find a dedicated group of peers on the Treasure Coast, there is a place for you here.

At Moy Yee Hop Ving Tsun Kung Fu, we often speak about "Kung Fu Life." It is the idea that our practice extends far beyond the four walls of the Kwoon and into the way we live, how we treat others, and how we celebrate the bonds of our martial arts family. Recently, our community had a very special reason to gather: the birthday of our teacher and mentor, Sifu James Hindman.

As the end of the year approaches and the festive spirit of the Holidays and New Year fills the air, we at Moy Yee Hop Ving Tsun Kung Fu always cherish the tradition of gathering our students for a special Holiday/Christmas Dinner. It's a vital opportunity to strengthen the bonds of our Kung Fu family outside of the Kwoon (training hall). This year, due to the distance between our various locations, we were delighted to host a dedicated dinner for our fantastic group of students in Fort Lauderdale, Florida!
